My Winter Skincare Regime

Dropping temperatures and cold winds can go hand-in-hand with dry, sullen skin. But—they don’t have to. Cold winter air lacks humidity and dries up your skin’s natural oils, causing it to lose moisture. The solution? Skincare products that offer intense hydration.

When planning your winter skincare regimen, you should consider any existing skin conditions you may have. The harsh wintery weather not only irritates the healthiest of skin but can also make current skin conditions like dandruff, psoriasis or eczema for example, much worse.

I have to admit when I headed to New York last year I totally under estimated the change the cold would have on my skin and ended up spending a fortune on skincare trying to set my skin right again. With that in mind I have spent the few months trailing and testing what I can and now I’m excited to share with you my new and improved skincare regime.

First up, my daily cleansing and moisturising regime :

I use the Alpha H Balancing Cleanser every day and night. I can honestly say that this product actually changed my skin for the better. I saw changes from day one and now a month since adding it to my regime, I have the most flawless skin I have in years! I am a firm believer in the feeling of soapy bubbles, so of a nigh time I follow up my Alpha H Balancing Cleanser with the Clinique Foaming Cleanser to ensure all my makeup from the day is removed thoroughly.

After I am out of the shower I use the Alpha H Instant Facial. This product claims to and has over the last month has refined my pore size, reduce dead skin build-up, softened those little wrinkles leaving the skin looking instantly fresher, smoother and more radiant. Note: You apply this using cotton pads to use this cleanser, so don’t forget to add these to your shopping list too!

Once a week I apply the Biore Self-Heating One Minute Mask (not pictured). I love this product because you feel it working. At first the heat really did frighten me, but now I understand its opening the pours and draws out the dirt (yuk) but it leaves my skin so smooth. These babies are so good I went to five stores on the weekend and they were sold out everywhere! After that I apply Clinique Dark Spot Corrector available here, followed by the Philosophy Hope in a Jar which is super hydrating drink of water for the skin.

Milk and Co. By Lindy Klim

Lindy Klim

A former model and mother to three, Lindy Klim is the founder of Milk and Co. A natural and organic skincare range for him, her and baby. Married to Olympic swimming legend Michael Klim, Lindy is also a celebrated fashionista. Here she reveals the story behind her brand, her favourite things and what’s in store for the future…

Tell me about your business Milk & Co and how it came about ?

Milk and Co. a lifestyle brand developed by my husband and I, we came up with the concept as mike was coming to the end of his swimming career as we needed to think of life after swimming… We always new Klim backwards spells milk and I thought that leant itself to a great skincare name. Mike was obsessed with skincare after always having dry damaged skin from years in the pool.

Why did you decide to launch your new women’s skincare collection ?

I actually hadn’t planned on it and it was only when majors like Boots in the UK were asking us for it… It took me a while to find what I thought the market was missing …. and that was affordable, natural skincare aimed at woman like me who are time poor but wanted great quality products that were easily assessable and made in Australia.

What is your favourite product | products from your new line ?

I love the double sided wipes! They exfoliate one one side and cleanse on the other! I also love the body scrub!

The products are so beautiful and so accessible to all women, was it important to keep the prices low and how were you able to keep them so affordable ?

Yes that’s very important to me, after owning a skincare company for 5 years I had reasonable knowledge of ingredients and a lot of what is put into skincare you actually don’t need… That is why I try to be as natural as possible. If you were wanting help with acne or cellulite I am sure there are products out there but I wanted to produce a range that was for everyday use.

The products include so many exotic natural ingredients – Where did those elements come from ?

We live in Bali and I love all the natural exotic ingredients that they have been using here for centuries, I wanted to include as many as I could to bring a little bit of the tropical life to our customers.

I’ve heard your husband Michael is dedicated to skincare – do you have any tips on how to suggest a skincare regime to my boyfriend ?

Haha! Yes … Tell him you think he is starting to get wrinkles… Men are more vain than you think!

What are your own beauty essentials ?

I keep things very basic… I always use a body scrub and rosehip oil at night!

You offer some great fashion advice on your blog. How would you describe your own personal style ?

I always find it hard to describe…. I have a basic uniform look that I know works well from day to day but I guess I do like to have fun with fashion and try new things…. I like a more tailored chic silhouette … I don’t feel like I am a girly girl and don’t wear a lot of color or print.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe ?

Acne black jeans, white or black t-shirts or even my husbands shirts and a black blazer… I have a collection! I love pumps and have a collection of these also… My favorites being Giuseppe Zanotti, Nicholas Kirkwood and Dior.

What are you favourite blogs, magazines, labels, Instagram accounts ?

I love french voguetts, snob, styleaddict for blogs! I buy the UK Vogue, Harpers and ELLE … For Instargram I love following friends so I can keep up with what everyone’s doing … Labels…. This list could go on and on… I am very loyal to some great Australian labels such as Scanlan & Theodore, Viktoria and Woods, Bassike, Ellery and Nobody Denim.

What trends will you be embracing this season ?

I love that white on white is such a huge trend as this is one of my favourite colours!

I have a few holidays planned this year and i know you travel alot so i imagine you have amazing insight – what are your travel beauty tips and travel essentials?

Not to pack too much product!! You always think you need more than you do. Take some of my Beauty Wipes for the plane and your favourite moisturiser.

What does the future hold for Milk & Co ?

We plan to launch a lounge cashmere | bamboo label this coming winter called Kid for Milk ! Keep your eye out for it, you will love it!
