Bassike Karamatsu Crew Sweat

It’s been almost fifteen years since I first stepped into a Bassike store. I remember purchasing an organic jersey long sleeve tee and thinking to myself that I was being much too opulent. It was, at that point of time the most expensive basic that I had ever bought. All these years later my wardrobe is filled to the brim with Bassike pieces and it’s a brand I constantly turn to year after year.

This season I’ll be investing in their Karamatsu Crew Sweat. There are so many reasons why I need this in my life. Apart from the obvious, that it’s incredibly comfortable and chic. After living in sweatshirts for the past few months, there’s no reason why I shouldn’t add another to my wardrobe. I have to admit I am starting to miss the convenience of having my favorite Australian stores and brands just a short walk from my place in Sydney. Who knew that those silly creature comforts felt so good?! Which is why I turned to a few of my favorite Australian brands available here in LA this weekend to keep me in check.

My first stop was Bassike who have a bright beautiful store on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice. Where I (happily) spent all of my pocket money on their resort capsule collection. The new pieces that you’ll find in my wardrobe this spring include; A Classic Vintage Long Sleeved Dress in black . Palm Print Tee . Classic Vintage Tee in washed navy and also in black . Classic Beach Short in black and one pair of very chic Leather Slip On shoes.

Bassike Spring Collection

If there’s one label that has always had a place in my closet it’s Bassike. I can still remember my very first purchase all those years ago. Consisting of organic jersey tees and long sleeved tops in grey marle and black. All so lovingly lived-in that I ending up wearing them to bed as my winter pyjamas. Almost eight years on and I’m still captivated by the concept of easy, breezy and beautiful basics. Simple pieces that are as equally as perfect to wear when your lazying around at home or if you’re going to relaxed lunch on a Sunday afternoon.

I recently added a few more basics to my Bassike collection. All with my upcoming trip overseas in mind; Including a pair of Slouch Jersey Pants and an Oversize Curve Hem Sweat. Both in black of course! They’ll prove to be indispensable layering pieces over the next few months, as well as comfortable and chic 14 hour plane attire too. The new Bassike spring collection launched today and there is no denying how beautiful it is. I’m certain that Bassike pile of mine will be growing a little taller in the near future. To see their new collection as well as their core pieces click here.

Just when you thought there was no way bassike could simplify it’s fashion forward formula, they have released their undyed collection. Striping back their already minimal wardrobe staples by crafting a collection of their key stilettos in undyed canvas, drill and organic cotton. All with raw unfinished frayed edges. It’s beautiful and worth every penny with the above singlet and short combo my favourite head to toe look.
